Cats Protection

The Old Golfhouse has been looking after the Cats Protection Dereham cats for 11 years. The vets and nurses at Watton visit the adoption centre once a week and have surgical and medical cases brought to the surgery on a Tuesday. It can be extremely busy as the Cats Protection does not always know how many cats or kittens are going to be brought in.

We are currently neutering cats from nine and a half weeks of age (after their first vaccination) for the Cats Protection. This is a fairly new scheme in the UK but has been carried out in Australia and North America for many years.

Neutering at this early age has many benefits including reduced surgical and anaesthetic time, prompt recovery from anaesthesia, reduced risk for mammary cancer and virtually bloodless surgery. It also helps hugely with population control as the Cats Protection can re home the cats and not have to get them back to be neutered.
